Issues with Gaelic
- Political conflicts: There are a large number of conflicts in Ireland. I am not a historian, but from a linguistic side we have several factors to consider. Firstly the Catholic church has at least some interest in making sure Ireland stays catholic. Deviating from Roman script would probably make that difficult. Another problem is nationalism and white supremacy, that lead to narratives that aren't true and pervert actual knowledge of the language. A lot of language from different institutes frame learning Gaelic as some kind of "return". Issue with these folks is they make up nonsense, even if they intend to try to preserve the culture. Another problem with this idea of ethnic purity and language is that firstly it's not historically accurate, second referring to a language as having any kind of return-itive potential is just false. Because language doesn't care who you are, it's a collection of sounds that you happen to know. On the oteher hand we have EU beaurocrats that (in my opinion) have a basis in universalizing language.
Accordingly it must be approached with the original alphabet as much as possible (or this at least needs to be a project that is worked on) rather than Roman letters. Because Roman letters are not appropriate for every language. (The same problem with Vietnamese, and they intended to do it to Japanese).
